South Asian Destination Wedding Trends that Never Go Out of Style

South Asian Destination Wedding Trends

Since we specialize in South Asian destination weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean, we’ve seen quite a few wedding trends through the years. But there are a few that our clients always choose for their weddings because they take the wedding to the next level. Here are a few of our favorites.

Modern baraats

While many clients still choose a classic white horse for the baraat, we’ve seen others deciding on luxury cars and golf carts for their grand entrance.

Sometimes it is because this is the best option (as not all resorts offer the option to add on a horse) and other times it was chosen on purpose because it’s a fairly modern way of doing the baraat.

South Asian Destination Wedding TrendsThere’s always the chance that the horse might get a little nervous around so many people dancing with loud music playing. And, of course, there is the issue of scent from the horse. Going in a luxury car or golf cart sets a more elevated tone and also allows the groom to stay cool as he makes his way through the procession.

Other clients have also enjoyed boat baraats. This is a fun way to enter the procession and provides an experience your guests will not forget!

South Asian Destination Wedding TrendsUnique entertainment options

Your DJ is a must for a good destination wedding in Mexico or the Caribbean but couples have adding on other acts to bring even more excitement to their wedding events.

A popular add-on for our client weddings has been entertainment acts that offer water drums, fire dancers and fire eaters. These are especially popular for the sangeet night or welcome party.

Another trend that our couples enjoyed was including dancers on stilts at their reception. These are typically dancers who are adorned with LED lights and offer guests drinks straight from the bottle. Some LED dancers also facilitate limbo dances and the crowd loves it!

Fireworks, especially during the welcome night or at the end of the sangeet, are still reigning as a crowd favorite.

These especially work well when they are a surprise for the crowd (and even the bride and groom!).

They make for beautiful wedding pictures and are a fun way to start off your wedding events.

Neon signs

Another growing trend is having neon signs at the sangeet night that either have a favorite quote the couple loves or includes their wedding hashtag.

This is a great way to tie together your wedding theme and remind people to use your hashtag for pictures they take.

Guests love to get their pictures taken with the neon signs in the background so it will be something that will add to your celebrations in a big way.

Live painters

We are seeing an increasing number of clients requesting artists to do a live painting of their ceremony.

It’s such a meaningful keepsake to have of your wedding and is something special you’ll want to hang on the wall of your home in your new life together.

There are many talented artists out there because this trend has become such a big one.

Illustrations of the bride and groom on wedding signs

Getting hand-drawn illustrations of the bride and groom that are printed for wedding signs for the sangeet and haldi are something our brides and grooms have been choosing quite a bit over the past two years.

This is a sweet way to personalize your signs and the illustration is another keepsake of your wedding that you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Customized elements

From customized coconuts that have the bride and groom’s names imprinted on them to colorful dance floors with the couple’s monograms, we’ve seen couples adding in personalization to just about everything in their wedding.

And yes, some couples even do more modern customized items such as tattoos or blown up images of their faces to pass around during the welcome party for an extra fun touch!

This trend is your chance to add personality and excitement to your wedding.

Whether you go for something more classic like personalized champagne glasses to something more creative, it’s a trend that will always be around.

Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular, and South Asian couples looking to tie the knot have a wide range of options to choose from. By incorporating these top trends, couples can create a unique and unforgettable wedding experience for themselves and their guests.

Whether you’re planning a small, intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, Mexico offers a perfect setting to create memories that will last a lifetime. When you look for wedding trends, there are many that come and go but these are ones that have had quite a staying power for good reason.

They are all interesting ways to add more excitement for your guests as they celebrate with you during your destination wedding.
