We know that with the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), you might have questions about how it will impact current and future travels for your destination wedding. We’d like to provide the following information to you to help as we all navigate through these difficult times.
What are the symptoms of the coronavirus?
According to the website for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
“Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.*
- * Fever
- * Cough
- * Shortness of breath
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
- * Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- * Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- * New confusion or inability to arouse
- * Bluish lips or face
*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.
What can I do to stop the spread of the coronavirus and stay safe?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are a few things you can do to help stop the spread of the coronavirus and keep yourself safe.
- * Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- * If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
- * Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- * Practice social distancing. If you must travel, go to work or be in public of any reason, try to keep at least 6 feet away from others especially those who cough or sneeze.
- * Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- * If you are sick:
- * stay home and call your doctor.
- * Wear a face mask.
- * Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
- * If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
If I was due to travel soon for my destination wedding (or as a guest) (within the next few days or weeks), will I still be able to do so?
The CDC is urging everyone to refrain from travel over the next few weeks unless absolutely necessarily. At the time of this document was published, the United States and Canada have both closed their borders to each other.
What should I do if I need to cancel my plans?

Will I be able to change the date of my destination wedding and all travel arrangements related to it?
Many airlines and resorts are now offering flexibility around changing the date of travel that was already booked. It depends on several factors including when you made the booking. If you have already booked through us, contact us for help with your particular booking.
Will I be able to get my money refunded?
This will depend on whether you have purchased travel insurance (or not). If you have purchased travel insurance, you will most likely receive all or some of your money back. It will depend on what type of travel insurance you purchased. For instance, some travel cancellation insurance policies require you to purchase a “cancel for any reason” add-on that covers circumstances springing from events that are out of your control.

Should I still consider booking a destination wedding if it is a few months from now?
While things seem uncertain at the moment, we know that rates right now for travel are priced very well. Some people choose to book now and cancel later if the current situation has not resolved by the time they would like to travel. That way they receive an incredible rate while still have flexibility to change their mind later. We highly encourage you to also buy insurance.
What changes have occurred so far at the airports that I need to be aware of?
At the time this document was published, the TSA has loosened its liquid restrictions for hand sanitizer. Per the TSA’s website:
“TSA is now allowing passengers to bring liquid hand sanitizer containers up to 12 ounces in carry-on bags until further notice. Passengers can expect that these containers larger than the standard allowance of 3.4 ounces of liquids permitted through a checkpoint will need to be screened separately, which will add some time to their checkpoint screening experience.”
